What happens when you get in touch

A person reads every message that comes through, not a bot and not a call centre. If it is a quick question, you get a straight answer back. If it is about a loan you are thinking through, we will usually pick up the phone, because five minutes on a call saves a long email chain.

Nothing is locked in by asking. Comparing your options does not involve a credit check and does not put a mark on your file. That only happens later, if you decide to apply and you tell us to go ahead.

Compare City is a comparison site. We give you access to more than 80 lenders so you can see what is out there, rather than taking the first offer in front of you.

The quickest way to reach us

Call

1300 267 273. Best if you are mid purchase, at a dealer, or you want to talk something through rather than type it out.

Email

hello@comparecity.com.au. Good for questions with detail, or for sending through a quote or an invoice.

The form

The form on this page comes straight to us. Tell us what you are looking at and the best time to call.

If your enquiry is about an application already underway, mention that up front and we will get it to the person handling it.

What to have handy

None of this is needed to ask a question. It just makes the answer more useful.

  • What you are buying, and roughly what it costs
  • Whether it is for you personally or for a business
  • Whether you have a deposit or a trade-in
  • The invoice or the advert, if you have already found the one you want
  • Your rough income and what you are already paying each month
  • Anything on your credit file you think might come up

Common questions

Will asking a question affect my credit score?

No. Comparing options and getting an estimate does not involve a credit check. A credit enquiry only happens when you decide to apply and give the go ahead.

What does it cost to use Compare City?

Nothing to compare. Where a loan does settle, the lender generally pays a commission to the brokerage that arranged it. How that works is set out in the credit guide.

What sort of finance do you cover?

Cars, utes, vans, caravans, boats and motorbikes, business vehicles, trucks, trailers, machinery and equipment, along with personal loans, home loans, refinancing and debt consolidation. The full list is in the Loans menu at the top of the page.

Can you help if my credit is not perfect?

Often, yes. A default or a thin file is not an automatic no, and some lenders look at the story behind it. See bad credit finance.

Do I need to come into an office?

No. We are based in Sydney and almost everything is done by phone and email, wherever in Australia you are.

Can I just get a rough repayment first?

Yes. The calculators will give you an estimate in a minute, no details required. They are a guide only, not a quote or an offer of credit.

I have already applied. Who do I talk to?

Reply to the last email you had from us, or call and quote your name and what you are financing. It will go to the person looking after it.

Not sure where to start? Have a look at the questions page, run the numbers on the calculators, or read how a pre-approval works if you are about to go shopping.
