The terms that apply when you use this site and our comparison and broking services.
Welcome to Compare City. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Compare City website and any comparison tools, forms or related services (together, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Services.
Compare City (ABN 16 690 764 268) is a comparison site giving you access to over 80 lenders to find the right loan for you. We help you compare loan and finance options and, where you choose to submit an enquiry or application, we pass your details to one of our functioning brokerage partners, who carry out the actual credit assessment and write the loan. Those brokerages are each authorised credit representatives of a separate Australian Credit Licence holder:
Compare City itself is not a credit licensee or credit representative, and does not provide credit assistance or financial advice. Any credit assistance provided to you following an enquiry made through our website is provided by the relevant brokerage partner named above, who will issue you with their own Credit Guide and Credit Quote (where applicable) before assisting you to apply for finance.
Compare City compares and refers you to a limited panel made up of our three functioning brokerage partners named above. We do not compare the entire market of brokers, lenders or credit products, and our comparisons should not be understood as covering every option available to you.
When you submit an enquiry or application through Compare City, we tell you which of our brokerage partners is able to assist with the type of finance you are interested in, and pass on your contact details so that brokerage can contact you. We do not suggest, recommend or select a particular loan, lender or credit contract on your behalf, and nothing on our website should be read as a suggestion that you apply for a specific credit product. That assessment is made separately by the relevant brokerage once they contact you.
Compare City acts as a referrer for our brokerage partners, and we receive a referral fee or commission from the relevant brokerage for enquiries and applications referred to them through Compare City. This fee is paid to us by the brokerage, not by you, and does not increase the cost of any loan or finance you obtain. Further information about the commission we receive can be requested using the contact details in clause 17.

The information displayed on Compare City, including any comparisons, rates, rankings or general information, is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not take into account your personal financial situation, needs or objectives and should not be relied on as financial, credit or legal advice. Any personalised credit assistance is provided separately by the relevant brokerage partner referred to in clause 2, in accordance with their own obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth).
Our repayment calculators use a default indicative interest rate for each loan type. Those rates vary by product, and the rate used is shown on the calculator on the relevant page. As at the date of these terms, home loans use 6.1% p.a. and business loans 11.00% p.a. Asset finance rates vary by asset type and are shown on each product page.
Where any of these default rates or fees, or any other specific interest rate, fee or repayment amount, is displayed on our website, we will display the applicable comparison rate for that rate alongside it with equal or greater prominence, in accordance with the National Credit Code. Each comparison rate shown is a guide only, is based on the example given (including the loan amount, term and fees used for that example), and may not include all fees and charges. An accurate comparison rate for your circumstances can only be given by the relevant brokerage or lender.
These default rates are indicative only, may not be available to all applicants, and may change at any time without notice. Any comparison of products or rates on our website is limited to our three brokerage partners named in clause 2 and the lenders they deal with, is current only as at the date shown (where a date is shown), and should be independently verified before you rely on it.
Fees and charges apply to the credit products our brokerage partners arrange, and are not included in any calculator figure. Depending on the lender and the product these may include an establishment fee. The fees that apply to you are set out in the Credit Quote the relevant brokerage provides before any application proceeds.
For home loans, our calculator may also apply a higher assessment (serviceability buffer) rate, currently 9.10% p.a., in addition to the indicative home loan rate above. This assessment rate is not the interest rate you would be charged. It is used only to estimate whether a loan would likely remain affordable if interest rates were to rise, in line with standard lending practice. It does not require a comparison rate disclosure, as it is not an advertised rate for the credit itself.
Our website may include repayment calculators or similar tools. Any figures produced by these tools are estimates only, based on the information you enter and general assumptions we have made (such as an assumed interest rate, loan term or fee structure), and are provided for general illustrative purposes. They are not a quote, loan offer, or pre-approval, and do not take into account your individual financial situation. Your actual interest rate, fees and repayments will depend on the outcome of an assessment carried out by the relevant brokerage and lender, and may differ from any estimate shown.
All content on the Compare City website, including text, graphics, logos, comparison tools and design elements, is owned by or licensed to Compare City and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute or otherwise use our content without our prior written consent, except as necessary to use our Services for their intended personal purpose.
Our Services and website content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to keep the information on our website accurate and up to date, we make no warranty or representation as to the accuracy, completeness, currency or reliability of any content, comparison result, rate or offer displayed on our website. Rates, fees and product features offered by lenders and our brokerage partners may change and should be independently verified.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Compare City excludes all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, our Services, including any reliance on comparison results or general information provided on our website. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Our website may contain links to, or refer you to, third-party websites or services, including our brokerage partners and lenders. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, products or services of any third party. Any dealings you have with a third party, including a brokerage partner or lender, are solely between you and that third party.
If your enquiry results in an application for finance, the relevant brokerage partner will act as your credit representative and will provide you with a Credit Guide setting out, among other things, the credit services they provide, the credit providers they commonly use, any fees payable by you, and how to make a complaint. Please read that Credit Guide carefully before proceeding with an application.
If your complaint is about our website, our comparison tools, or how we have referred you, please contact us using the details in clause 17 and we will investigate and respond to you.
If your complaint relates to credit assistance, advice or service you received from one of our brokerage partners after being referred to them, please raise it directly with that brokerage in the first instance, using the complaints process set out in their Credit Guide. If you are not satisfied with their response, you may refer the matter to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) on 1800 931 678, or by writing to GPO Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001. Compare City is not itself a member of AFCA, as we do not provide credit assistance.
We may amend these Terms at any time by publishing an updated version on our website. Your continued use of our Services after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the amended Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales in respect of any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms.
